Roger, Espionager is a quirky spy saga that you never knew you were missing. With years of CIA research embedded into the script, this fictional tale takes a plausible foundation, and builds a complex world of mystery and oddity on top.
We follow CIA Officer Scout Silvergate (Ashlee Heath) as she seeks to find Roger (Matthew Cornwell), a promising recruit from an abandoned Cold War-era spy training program. The CIA’s goal in the 1980s was to identify potential spies at a young age, secretly train them without their knowledge, and only when they were 18 would they discover their true destiny. With the fall of Communism in ‘91, however, the program was mothballed and the child recruits were never told about the program. Over 30 years later, these recruits start showing up dead, forcing the CIA to dust off this old program and focus on the most promising recruit… Roger.

The History

The Idea.
Matt (creator, co-writer, Roger) had this idea somewhere in the summer of 2018. His late father had worked off and on for the government, traveling a lot, and even having Top Secret clearance. So, Matt proposed, what if he was a spy? And further, what if he had been grooming me as a child to become a spy, but I never knew?
That became the genesis of Roger.

The Process.
After getting Brian Chapman on board as a co-writer, the idea for the pilot went through many iterations. Covid added another year to the re-write process, and by the Summer of 2021, it was time to shoot the darn thing.
So over 9 days in June of 2021, the pilot was shot here in Atlanta. Post-production took about 8 months, and in 2022, the finished pilot premeired at the Micheaux Film Festival in Los Angeles (winning Best Action/Adventure).

Now what?
With so much noise out there, it’s a monumental task to “find a home” for a passion project like this story. So after a few leads on distribution didn’t pan out, we decided to self-publish our project on YouTube.
